SKC Surface SWYPE for Hexavalent Chromium Overview

Identify the presence of hexavalent chromium in just 3 minutes with SKC Surface SWYPES.

SKC’s Surface SWYPES offer a straightforward solution to reduce dermal exposure. After identifying potentially contaminated surfaces by observing employee work practices, the SWYPE can be used to test whether those surfaces, such as safety glasses, tools or machinery controls, are contaminated and create a risk of bare-skin exposure to hexavalent chromium. Hexavalent chromium is a known carcinogen and bare-skin contact can lead to conditions such as allergic dermatitis, lesions and chrome ulcers.

How to Use Hexavalent Chromium Surface Swypes

To test, simply spray the surface with the cleaning/developing solution for hexavalent chromium, wait at least 30 seconds and then wipe the surface with the SWYPE. After 3 minutes, if hexavalent chromium is present the SWYPE will produce a purple/violet colour.

If hexavalent chromium is identified, further action can be taken to protect workers and decontaminate the surface with SKC’s DECONtamination Solution.
