Dr. Chu is an expert in nanosensor technology and a former faculty member at the University of British Columbia. Winnie spent her early career conducting compliance-based sampling and analysis for the detection and prevention of workplace exposure to damaging aerosols and airborne particulates.

Nanozen was born from Winnie's recognition of a pressing need to improve upon aerosol detection technologies. In 2007 she turned her efforts towards the design of wearable and highly accurate sensors that deliver immediate, real-time results across a diverse mix of environmental and occupational applications. Dr. Chu holds a PhD in Chemistry from Simon Fraser University and MSc in Quantum Mechanics from the University of Manitoba. She currently serves on the environmental sensor review panel at the US National Science Foundation.
