Webinar | Respirator Fit Testing with CNP Webinar for FAMANZ

.

In July, Air-Met Scientific had the honour of presenting the advantages and limitations of the OHD Quantifit 2 technology to the FANAMZ and asbestos monitoring community.

This seminar showcased a range of fit testing instrumentation currently available in the market including the latest from OHD, the QuantiFit 2, a portable respirator fit tester.

The OHD QuantiFit 2 is the next generation in quantitative fit testing. It utilises the OHD patented Controlled Negative Pressure Technology to conduct a fit test. Unique to Controlled Negative Pressure technology, fit testing with CNP technology uses air as the challenge agent to test for leaks in the respirator.

The use of air as a standard (non-varying) gaseous challenge agent provides a more rigorous mask fit test than an aerosol agent. If air leaks into a respirator, there is a chance that the particles, vapours, or gas contaminants also may leak in.

Luke Allen is the President of OHD Global, a market leader in the manufacturing of fit testing technology and has over 15 years of experience in the health and safety industry.

Here is a snippet from the FAMANZ webinar where Mr Luke Allen discusses OHD’s scientifically proven and patented Controlled Negative Pressure Technology and conducting respirator fit testing using the QuantiFit2.

Benefits of Using CNP technology instead of Traditional Fit Testing Respirators

Traditional ambient air particle counting methods only work where there is a particulate present. However, most commonly there isn’t enough present, so it needs to be artificially introduced using salt tablets, candles etc. The main disadvantage of this type of technology is it has a limited range of particle sizes which it can measure, and the ambient sampling range does not equate to the human respirable range. Ambient aerosol counting also requires specific environmental conditions which restricts where the test can take place.

With the QuantiFit 2, air is used as the challenge agent, so it doesn’t require particles to be generated. It can be used to fit test indoors and outdoors. Outdoor fit testing allows for better air flow and less cross contamination between individuals.

Standout Features of the QuantiFit 2

  • The set-up time for a QuantiFit 2 is only 2 minutes. There is no need to check filters, calibrations etc.
  • AutoStart functionality for touchless testing
  • Colour animations to guide the user through each fit test exercise.
  • Rechargeable battery pack with more than four hours of active run time.
  • OSHA and ISO approved CNP REDON respirator fit tester protocol which allows a test to be performed in as little as two minutes!
  • And More!
