RadMan 2 – Reliable Detection of Pulsed Radiation Fields
Personal EMF Safety with the Narda RadMan 2
The RadMan 2 Radiation Monitors are commonly used for the protection of workers who are required to work in areas with increased levels of electromagnetic radiation such as broadcasting towers, telecommunication, and radar antennas.
The Narda RadMan 2 Personal Radiation Monitors are available in the 2XT and 2LT versions. Worn on the body of the worker with a suitable attachment and RF absorber that allows it to be fixed easily to the harness or belt, it alerts the worker with highly visible alarm LEDs and a loud buzzer when electromagnetic radiation levels are approaching a dangerous limit.
Equipped with a few more functionality than the lighter RadMan 2LT version, the E field sensors of the RadMan 2XT are suitable for a wider frequency range that extends from about 27 MHz up to 50 GHz. Unique to the 2XT is the capability to reliably detect pulsed radiation fields. To ensure that pulsed signals (e.g. radar) are reliably detected, the integration time can be changed from 1 s (Normal Mode/ RMS Mode) to 30 ms (Pulse Mode/ Peak Mode) on the device itself. The setting is displayed on the device.
Reliable Detection of Pulsed Radiation Field
Mobile wireless signals are considered pulsed signals. However, today’s huge demand for information means that the spectrum looks much more like a continuous wave (CW) signal. Among the “real” pulsed signals in broadband measurement, the radar signal is the foremost. Due to the immense impulse power, there has been a greater demand and requirement for personal protective equipment for those who work in close proximity to these signals. The RadMan 2XT is equipped with a “Pulse Mode” specifically for this environment.
