Four New Sensors Added to the Industrial Scientific Radius BZ1 Portable Area Gas Monitor

Designed to detect gas hazards without the hassle of elaborate infrastructure changes, the Industrial Scientific Radius BZ1 can now detect up to seven gases simultaneously using 22 sensor options including a photoionisation detector (PID)

Within the removable SafeCore module, the BZ1 now supports four new sensors. The new sensors are:

  • Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2)
  • Hydrogen Chloride (HCl)
  • Hydrocarbon Infrared (HC IR)
  • Methane Infrared (CH4 IR)

The BZ1 offers sensor configuration options for multiple industries and applications, making it an ideal solution for a range of area gas monitoring applications including:

  • Fence line/perimeter monitoring
  • Fire and hazmat
  • Hot work
  • Pulp and paper
  • Wastewater
  • Food production

Note: To support the new sensors, your docking station firmware must be 10.8 or higher.

Frequently Asked Questions on the Radius BZ1 New Sensor Capability

No, the HCl sensor is only compatible with a diffusion (non-pumped) device. All other sensors can be used in diffusion or pumped units.

An error is displayed on the instrument to prevent unintended usage. The HCL sensor will display “ERR” on the screen to make the sensor inoperable—this indicates that only this sensor is impacted, and all other correctly installed sensor will operate as intended.

To monitor ClO2, Teflon-lined tubing should be used when sampling.

An error is displayed on the instrument to prevent unintended usage. The sensor will display “ERR” on the screen to make the sensor inoperable—this indicates that only this sensor is impacted, and all other correctly installed sensor will operate as intended.

SafeCore v4.30.07 is required for each of the new sensors being added.
