Geotech PFC-Free Portable Bladder Pumps

Groundwater polluted by PFC’s are becoming more and more common. In November 2016, the USEPA set a health advisory level of 70 PPT (parts per thousand) for two common PFC’s. With such a low level, sampling plans must consider and prevent possible contamination from sampling equipment. The last thing you want is a false positive that puts your site on the news!

PFC’s are compounds used in household goods such as nonstick cookware and even microwave popcorn bags. PFOA and PFOS are the two most commonly used PFC’s. They are currently the subject of several lawsuits alleging contamination and negligence. They are also used to make aqueous film forming foam (AFFF) to fight fires - the contaminant of many remediation sites.

The PFC-Free Portable Bladder Pump is designed specifically for sampling perfluroinated chemicals (PFC’s) such as perflourooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in groundwater. The PFC-Free Portable Bladder Pump is made with PFC free materials such as 316 stainless steel, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and Buna-Nitrile to provide representative water samples. The single turn release head and quick change bladders allow for quick, in-the-field bladder changes and easy decontamination.
