The SKC Diesel Particulate Matter Cassette is designed for sampling in atmospheres where it is necessary to differentiate diesel particulate matter (DPM) from other respirable dust (such as coal dust) based on particle size.

Designed for one-time use, SKC DPM Cassettes are assembled and sealed in a clean room to ensure sample integrity. Loaded into each streamlined plastic cassette is a precision-jeweled impactor, impaction substrate, a heat-treated quartz filter for sample collection, and a second quartz filter to be used as a blank. The precision-jeweled impactor screens out respirable particles > 1.0 µm. Particles less than 1.0 µm are collected on the filter.

Samples are analyzed for organic and elemental carbon content using a highly sensitive evolved gas analysis (EGA) technique with thermal-optical analyzer as specified in NIOSH Method 5040.
